After Effects Tutorials

This was my first time properly being introduced to After Effects and I found it to be very interest in terms of the amount of features it had, along side combining it with other Adobe software. I noticed whilst using AE it had similar areas to Adobe premiere which was helpful in remembering where things were located. Yet again Lynda.com was very helpful in explaining how to use the software and really broke down the process clearly. I worked on the Tutorial 'After Effects CS6 Essential Training with Ian Robinson' which consisted of;
  • Setting up the workspace, important preferences, and the cache
  • reating type, shape layers, and masks
  • Adjusting keyframes in the Graph Editor
  • Building backgrounds with effects etc

Whilst watching the videos i took down notes on where and how I can access areas on AE so i didn't forget anything pointed out.

This chapter was about 2D and 3D interfaces when using text

Importing layer Designs into from PS to AE

This was a quick Tutorial about how to keep your folders organised which i shall be keeping in mind for future references when the time comes.

This process involved combining both PS layers by importing the file as 'composition Retain' the pre composing the layer into its own composition and renaming it.

Fred Burn Screening With EX- UCA Students

On Wednesday we had a screening in the lecture theatre with Ex-student Fred Burns Who screened is Recent Film/Documentary about one of his fathers friends called Paul Halford Aka Johnny Moped. The film was about Johnny and his band mates from croydon, which was surprise because thats were am from and their journey through music as a punk rock band. At first when i was watching the film I thought it was going to be be a typical film were a bunch of people are stuck in front of the camera and ramble on about their past life, which surprisingly wasn't the case and I ended up becoming fully engaged in how the story was being told around theses characters. Its was also really nice to see picture from 1976 of croydon, and I must say the difference between then and now astounding.

The banned over the years accumulated a number of different members two over which later went on to join bands such as the 'The Pretenders' and 'The Dammed';
Dave Berk
Fred Berk
Ray Burns (aka Captain Sensible)
Slimey Toad
Chrissie Hynde
Xerxes

My favourite scene from the film is the last one which was Johnny and wife Brenda Singing the bands single 'Darling, Let's Have Another Baby' which I thought was an excellent  touch to end the film.

Heres a video of them sining along to it, but is not the one shown in the film.

On top of the screen ing we had Ex-Students from past DFSA classes there to talk about their Experiences
on the course and how it helped them in there carrier choices today. I found the experience really resourceful
listen to their stories and advise, also question that students were asking new ideas for me to explore.
Am glad Rosie was able to get hold of the students because it really benefited me and got me focused on ideas
for the up coming projects, and i suggest that DFSA try and carry its on for new students that join the course next year.
